‘You never know’ – Striker refuses to rule out a return to Tottenham in the future

Troy Parrott has refused to rule out a return to Tottenham Hotspur in the future, although the striker admits that his full focus is now on repaying the faith that AZ Alkmaar have shown in him.

Troy Parrott swapped Spurs for AZ Alkmaar

Given Parrott’s impressive showing on loan at Excelsior Rotterdam last season, it did not come as a surprise when the 22-year-old attracted interest from Dutch clubs this summer.

It was Alkmaar who eventually won the race for the centre-forward, agreeing a deal worth £6.7m with Spurs for the player.

According to reports, Tottenham also included a 20 per cent sell-on clause for the Republic of Ireland international, thus ensuring that they would benefit from any future big-money move that the forward makes.

Could Troy Parrott return to Spurs one day?

Parrott never made any secret of his desire to make it at Spurs, even telling Irish Examiner last month about his dream to be a part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans.

While Parrott has been unable to achieve that, he has now refused to rule out a return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the future.

When asked about a potential return to Spurs down the line, the striker told De Telegraaf: “You never know how things are going to go in football.”

At 22 years of age, Parrott now needs some continuity in his career, which is why this was the right time for him to move on from Tottenham.

However, just like with Marcus Edwards, the sell-on clause would give Spurs an advantage over other suitors if they decided to re-sign him in the future.
