‘You never know’ – Winger addresses rumoured Spurs interest in signing him

Shakhtar Donetsk winger Manor Solomon, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham, has admitted that anything can happen regarding his future.

Solomon has developed into one of the top talents in Ukrainian football since joining Shakhtar from Maccabi Petah Tikva in 2019.

The Israeli international netted 13 goals in all competitions last season and has been on fine form again this campaign, with three goals and two assists to his name so far.

TEAMtalk reported in October that Tottenham were ‘keeping a close check’ on the 22-year-old ahead of the January transfer window.

The report claimed that the winger was also attracting interest from the likes of Manchester City and Newcastle United.

Arsenal even allegedly had an offer of around £17m turned down by Shakhtar for the player during the summer transfer window.

When asked if he could leave Shaaktar in January, Solomon told Israeli publication Onet: “Anything can happen, you never know. But chances are I’ll stay.”

The winger was then specifically asked about being linked with the likes of Spurs and Manchester City, and he insisted that he does not pay any attention to the speculation.

Solomon added: “There are rumours all the time. I’m used to it all the time since I was promoted to Maccabi Petah Tikva.

“Of course in the last year, it has gotten stronger, since the appearances in the Champions League. I’m not blinded by this at all.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While we might have been after Solomon before Conte’s appointment, I doubt if the 22-year-old will still be on Tottenham’s radar. Conte does not really use wingers with the way he sets his teams up. I suspect Spurs are more likely to go for a forward in January.
