‘You never know’ – Winger linked with Spurs speaks about his future in Serie A

Mikel Damsgaard, who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur has said that he would be open to staying at Sampdoria whilst also admitting that he does not know what the future holds for him.

In the little over a year he has spent in Serie A, Damsgaard’s reputation has blossomed due to his consistent displays for Claudio Ranieri’s side.

Multiple reports from Italy over the last month have revealed that the Denmark international is on Tottenham’s radar.

La Repubblica claimed that Spurs and Juventus are both ‘crazy’ about the Sampdoria star, while Tuttosport (as relayed by FC Inter News) have also suggested that the North Londoners are one of the clubs in pole position to sign the 20-year-old.

West Ham are also said to be interested in bringing the youngster to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Damsgaard revealed that he is focused on performing well on the pitch and is not thinking about the speculation over his future.

When asked about Sampdoria fans wanting to keep him at the club for a long time, the winger told Secolo XIX( relayed by Club Doria 46): “If the Sampdoria fans want to ‘tie me up for life’, I’m very proud.

“But with only two goals scored, I didn’t do much to deserve it.

“Will I stay a couple of years? Sure, why not? But then, in life, you never know, and in football, it depends on performance, for good but also for bad.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The fact that we seem to be linked with so many wide players suggests that the futures of Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura at Spurs might be in danger at the end of the season. It seems like Bergwijn is the odd one out at the moment given that the likes of Moura, Lamela and Bale have picked up form.
