‘You owe me’ – Former Spurs mans sends funny message to Son Heung-min

Jan Vertonghen has joked on social media that Son Heung-min owes him for the assist which led to the Tottenham forward’s Puskas winning goal.

Son won the award for his solo effort against Burnley in December of last year, where he picked up the ball in Tottenham’s defensive third and went past five or six players before producing a calm finish past a helpless Nick Pope

Some Spurs fans were over the moon to see the 28-year-old being named as the winner while Jose Mourinho insisted that it was never in doubt that that Son would take home the award.

It was Vertonghen who cleared the ball into Son’s path before the South Korean picked up the ball and started his now famous 70-metre run.

Vertonghen also phoned his former Tottenham teammate to wish him his congratulations on picking up the award.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear based on the video that Vertonghen was such a well-liked guy in the Tottenham dressing room. He was also a brilliant servant to the club and it is a shame that he did not get the send-off that he deserved from the fans due to the pandemic.
