Defender linked with both Spurs and Arsenal makes Team of the Year

Rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Djed Spence has been named in the EFL Team of the Year.

Spence’s impressive displays on loan at Nottingham Forest this campaign have shot him into the limelight, with several Premier League clubs thought to have their eye on the right-back.

Spurs reportedly saw an offer for the right-back knocked back by Middlesbrough at the end of the January transfer window (90min) while Liverpool and Arsenal have also been credited with an interest 21-year-old (Northern Echo).

The Evening Standard reported last month that Boro are resigned to losing the England Under-21 international this summer and that he could be sold for a fee of just around £12m since his contract at the Riverside Stadium runs out in 2023.

According to The Sunday Mirror (3/4; page 71), the young defender is expected to end up at either Spurs or Arsenal this summer.

Spence’s impressive showing this campaign has now been recognised by the EFL, with the pacy youngster making it into the EFL Team of the Year.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think there is any doubt that Spurs will be in the market for a right wing-back this summer. The North Londoners might decide to go after Spence over the likes of Stephane Singo, given that they are already close to the limit of the number of foreign players allowed for European competitions.
