Former Manchester United youngster Dion McGhee who Spurs were reported to be showing interest in was named in Newcastle United’s Under-23s side that lost 3-2 at Reading on Friday afternoon.
The midfielder, who had been with United academy since the age of 9 was released at the end of last season and it was reported last month that Tottenham had offered him a trial back in August (Vavel).
A report in Manchester Evening News revealed that West Ham United and Rangers were also interested in snapping up the 19-year-old.
However, it looks like the Lilywhites decided not to offer the teenager a contract after putting him through his paces at Hotspur Way.
The youngster now appears to have made the trip north to Newcastle, although it is not clear if he has signed a deal with the Magpies or if he is having a trial on Tyneside.
Soccerway has listed McGhee as part of the Magpies side that lost away at Reading on Friday.
According to the website, the midfielder started the game and completed 74 minutes before being taken off.
