“Your time has come” – Some Spurs fans react to striker’s message on social media

Tottenham beat Manchester City 1-0 in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday evening.

It was a great performance from the home side in what was the first European fixture to be held at the new 62,062 capacity stadium.

Spurs defended resolutely and played on the counter-attack, fashioning several good opportunities.

The away side didn’t fashion any clear cut chances apart from a controversial penalty they were awarded in the first half which was saved by Hugo Lloris.

Overall, the win was well deserved and the fact that the Lilywhites didn’t concede an away goal puts them in a great position going into the second leg.

The only negative to come from the game for Spurs was losing Harry Kane to yet another ankle injury after the striker was caught by Fabian Delph’s heavy challenge.

The England captain is expected to miss the rest of the season as the club confirmed that he has suffered significant damage to his ankle ligaments.

In the absence of Kane, Fernando Llorente came on in the later stages of the game and provided his team-mates with a rare option of a target man to play off.

The 34-year-old took to social media after the match to convey his delight at the result, and Spurs fans didn’t miss the opportunity to let him know that his time to shine had come.

Here’s how some Spurs fans reacted to Llorente’s post:
