Tottenham star Xavi Simons has provided an update on his recovery and has made an exciting promise to Spurs fans.
While Xavi did not have the best of starts to his Tottenham career, the attacking midfielder started playing with more confidence once Roberto De Zerbi arrived through the door.
Unfortunately, his season was cut short by an ACL injury, and some reports have suggested that the Spurs midfielder is expected to be sidelined for the rest of 2026.
While Tottenham’s other injured players, Dejan Kulusevski, Mohammed Kudus and Wilson Odobert, have been spotted at the Hotspur Way gym in the first few days of pre-season, the Dutchman is nowhere to be seen yet.

Tottenham star Xavi Simons says his knee ‘feels strong’ as he steps up rehabilitation
The 22-year-old has now provided a positive injury update, revealing that he is gaining strength in his knee, but confessed that he still has to gain more weight on his injured leg.
While he stopped short of providing an expected return date, the attacking midfielder is hopeful he can start training outdoors very soon.
Xavi told The Daily Mail: “I have to get my confidence back in my knee. Hopefully, I can start running soon. Right now, it feels strong, but I still have to gain more weight on that (injured) leg because it has been nine weeks without doing a lot.
“I have to compensate the other leg as well, get back into the pattern of running not only in my knees but in my hips. My upper body as well, so a little bit of everything, but the progress is there. Every day I can see it, and that’s what counts.
“The day I feel good again in my knee, I’ll sit down with people at the club and decide when I’m back. I have my own target, but I’ll keep it to myself; otherwise, I will create expectancy.'”
Xavi promises Spurs fans they will see a better player next season
What is clear is that the Netherlands international is not going to be available for the start of the season, which is now just a little over a month away.
The 22-year-old is hopeful that his teammates can race out of the blocks in the new campaign, and he delivered a big promise to Tottenham fans about what they can expect from him when he returns to the pitch.
Xavi added: “Hopefully, the coach and the team start the new season well, and the moment I’m back on the pitch, you’re going to see a new Xavi. All things happen for a reason. That’s how I’m looking at it right now.”
