Tottenham will be vying for a place in the FA Cup final when we take on Pompey on Sunday afternoon.

With an injury crisis and a north London derby date against Arsenal on Wednesday night.  What starting XI do you think Harry Redknapp should select?

Leave your team selection below.  Here’s what we have come up with:-

Gomes

Assou Ekotto – Dervite – Bassong – Bale

Bentley – Palacios – Kranjcar – Modric

Gudjohnsen – Pavlyuchenko

  1. I'll go with that, but swap Modders and Kranjcar – don't experiment in a cup semi. The rumour is that King could play. If he can – then replace Dervite. Don't save King for Arsenal, unless Daws won't make that either.

  2. I can't believe the amount of players we have out! 8 of them and two are cup-tied. Dawson might not be risked as we don't want him to get a serious injury.

I think this game is going to be a lot closer then people think, Pompey have some players returning and they would love to get a result against us. They having nothing to lose and it's Harry's old club. Kanu, Boetang, James to name a few could all be back. The defence and the midfield could be a big problem for Spurs. Ideally I think Harry wanted to rest Palacios as he's one card from missing the Arsenal and Chelsea games but Hud is a major doubt. It will be just typical if Palacios gets a booking. If he misses Arsenal and Chelsea we won't have any bite in midfield and get comepletely over run! Maybe he should of picked up a tactical yellow before it got to this, tough call to make.

If King can play on Sunday then it could be a bonus for us.

I feel nervous already! Just hope we can do it but it's going to be tough.

  3. You must be joking?

Play BAE at RB alongside a kid who has only ever featured twice for the 1st team and has looked poor?

We already have a weakish midfield with Modders playing CM. Not seen him hold his own yet.

Not enough work rate up front either. Pav is better used as an impact player. I’d go with Crouch and JD as we need his height for defensive set plays. Look at the unchallenged header after 36 seconds at Sunderland. We can’t afford to gift Pompey a silly goal from a set piece when we are missing the likes of Charlie/Hudd and Daws. Ledley will play I am sure, he’ll need to take an injection if need be to get through this one.

Really annoys me the attitude of people looking straight beyond this game and worrying about wednesday. Always look to win the next game, you come unstuck when you start planning ahead.

A makeshift defence and weak midfield will give Pompey the chance they desperately need.

If we win sunday it will give us the lift to go into the NLD knowing we have already secured a Wembley show piece.

Just win your next game. We shouldn’t have lost at Sunderland if we’d have worried about the next game.

  4. despite our injuries, our reserve side with a couple of regulars should be able to win against them .The league is the priority so I say rest up chaps, and let the kids have a run around at Wembley

    Gomes
    Naughton, Dervitte, Bassong, BAE
    Bentley, Livermore, Palacios, Rose
    Pav, Gudjonsen

put the rest of our regulars who can walk on the bench in case things go awry.

    Then for the Gooners:
    Gomes,
    Corluka/Walker, Dawson,King/Bassong, Bale
    Kranjar, Palacios, Huddlestone, Modric
    Crouch, Defoe

…and hopefully Lennon on the bench!

  5. It's so hard to tell what team will be out with all of the injuries, but based on who sounds most likely to play from Harry Redknapps comments, I'll go with

    Gomes
BAE, Dawson (I pray him or King are fit or we are screwed), Bassong, Bale (so much better at full back
Bentley, Palacios (Please don't get booked!) Kranjar, Modric
    Defoe, Crouch

Hopefully Huddlestone can make it but he seems doutful. If we had a fully fit squad I'd be tempted to leave Palacios on the bench as if he gets booked and misses the Arsenal and Chelsea games then I don't think we have any hope in hell. Having said that, even with out Palacios on Sunday I think our midfield will struggle. I just know that if he plays that he will get booked :(
