Arriving at Spurs in 2007 from Sevilla, expectation was high: he had achieved far beyond what was expected with La Liga outfit, winning the Copa Del Rey and UEFA Cup.

Beating Arsenal 5-1 in the semi-final of the League Cup, instilled Ramos into the hearts and minds of Spurs fans. However, despite clearing up the mess left by Martin Jol and winning Spurs' first trophy in years, Ramos was sacked early the following season.

However, just a couple of months later he was appointed boss of Real Madrid where he took charge for the remainder of the 2008-09 season, being replaced by Manuel Pellegrini in June 2009. After this, Ramos had spells with CSKA Moscow, Dnipro and a return to Malaga where he was sacked in December 2016. Ramos has not managed since.

After the Lilywhites’ blistering start to the season, there have been murmurings that this could finally be the year boss Mauricio Pochettino finally breaks their trophy duct.

But when was the last time Spurs won a trophy? It was the 24th February 2008, Spurs ran out as 2-1 winners against Chelsea. The first League Cup Final to be held at the new Wembley Stadium, which Spurs would become very familiar with years later. Here’s who started that day.
