When he felt like it, there were very few players more talented than the 6 ft 2 Bulgarian, however it was his inconsistency that held him back.

Signed for just over £10m from Bayern Leverkusen, Spurs fans soon fell in love with Berba and his beautiful style of football. Scoring the equaliser in the League Cup final against Petr Cech, Berbatov sealed a £30.75m transfer to Manchester United in September that year.

He scored 56 goals for Manchester United before he moved to Fulham and won their player of the season award in 2012-13. Following Fulham's relegation, Berba moved to Monaco in 2013 where he sworn two seasons before joining Greek side PAOK.

Berbatov was last seen playing for Indian side Kerala Blasters but left the club in March 2018. He has recently turned his hand to acting starring in Bulgarian release Revolution X: The Movie.

After the Lilywhites’ blistering start to the season, there have been murmurings that this could finally be the year boss Mauricio Pochettino finally breaks their trophy duct.

But when was the last time Spurs won a trophy? It was the 24th February 2008, Spurs ran out as 2-1 winners against Chelsea. The first League Cup Final to be held at the new Wembley Stadium, which Spurs would become very familiar with years later. Here’s who started that day.
