A look ahead to Chelsea v Spurs

With the likelihood of the absence of Harry Kane, Spurs will play Son to lead the line, in this massive game at Stamford Bridge. However I am expecting Dele Alli to surprise not only all are critics, but plenty of Spurs fans too.

He will rise to the occasion and show just why Pochettino rates him so highly. Unfortunately, the game will not only depend on Alli’s performance, but the rest of the team as well, and it will be of the utmost importance that Spurs finish this game with all eleven players on the pitch!

That is why it is extremely important that Pochettino picks those players who are less likely to ‘lose their heads’, with reckless challenges, and hot-headed over-reactions. So for me, he has to leave out, Aurier, Lamela and Rose, and my team selection in the absence of Harry Kane, would be as follows :

Lloris

Alderwiereld Sanchez Vertonghen

Trippier Wanyama Dembele Davies

Lucas Alli Eriksen

Son

Of course, a lot depends on how top individuals on both sides perform, if Spurs can keep Hazard and William quiet, they will do well, and give themselves a great chance. The rumour of Harry Kane being on the bench to possibly be used in the second half if needed, is one which I take with a large pinch of salt, but one which if true, would obviously tip the tie in Spurs’ favour.

So many pundit’s and statisticians love to quote history with this kind of fixtures, well I for one never do, what’s history is just that, and these are two different sets of players, and in the case of Spurs, a team with a completely different mindset, so bring it on, and watch this Spurs team rewrite the record-books !!
