Marcus Edwards – How did he perform for Spurs in first outing of the season?

Marcus Edwards has been at the centre of a lot speculation recently. After a somewhat misguided loan spell at Norwich in the second half of last season. He has been left out of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for the USA tour and is apparently now ready to be sold.

Edwards was selected in Wayne Burnett’s side for tonight’s U23s pre-season friendly at Enfield Town. Here is how we felt he got on.

The best way to describe how Edwards played tonight, was little too flash for his own good. As one of the more senior members of the side tonight, you’d have thought Edwards would have stepped up in a big way. On the positive side, his darting runs and cute flicks earned himself two penalties which he converted with ease.

On the negative side, you can obviously see why he rubs Pochettino up the wrong, his attitude is that of a player that thinks he’s too good for the level he is playing at. I don’t think in the whole 90 mins he came back and helped his right back once. Yes, he probably was the star man for Spurs tonight as when he got on the ball he looked a constant threat but without it, he looked lethargic and like he really didn’t want to be there.

It will be interesting to see if he will still be a Spurs player come August 9th
