Moura Chance of Silverware At Spurs

Lucas Moura’s dazzling performance in our 5th round FA Cup tie proved to be the major highlight of our 2-2 draw against League 1 strugglers Rochdale.

His pace, control and composed finish for his goal showed that Moura will be an asset to our team as we challenge for silverware in both the FA Cup and Champions League. Moura’s pedigree as a Brazilian International with 36 caps and 34 goals in 153 appearances with PSG, is an instant improvement on forgettable wide players we’ve signed in recent seasons such as Clinton N’Jie and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou.

With a fully fit squad, we look well equipped in most areas to finish the season strongly. Two areas of concern has to be the right-back position and Llorente’s form as back-up for Harry Kane. Aurier’s rash defending against Juventus in conceding a needless penalty along with picking up a suspension is an example of the unconvincing performances from the Ivory Coast International who is clearly a liability to the team and highlights that we aren’t as strong at right-back as last season when we had Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier as options.

Llorente up until now has been a huge disappointment and has not shown any of the form of last season with Swansea in which he scored 15 goals. Ineffective performances against Newport and Rochdale in the FA Cup show that a vacancy is still there to be filled for another striker next season.

The thrilling results in both the League and Champions League over the last month keeps us firmly on target to climb the league table into a top 4 position and qualify for the Quarter Finals for both the Champions League and The FA Cup. 3 points against Crystal Palace is essential on Sunday to put pressure on our fellow top 4 rivals Manchester United and Chelsea who face each other right after our game against Crystal Palace.

Lessons should be learned from our games against Southampton, Liverpool, Newport and Rochdale where we drew these games partially down to not playing at a high tempo from the start. Moura could well be the extra spark we need in attack this weekend and throughout the rest of the season that could help us win silverware this season and finish again in the top 4.
