Opinion: 35 Tottenham players and whether they should stay or go this summer

As we patiently wait for the start of the new season and hopefully new arrivals, let’s take a look over the current Spurs squad to see who has earned their spot next season and who should be heading for the exit.

Hugo Lloris – STAY – The World Cup-winning Frenchman has struggled with injuries of late but since the restart found exceptional form and passion.

Paulo Gazzaniga – STAY – Cemented as the Tottenham number two and needed with Michel Vorm gone.

Alfie Whiteman – STAY – Will likely be keeper number three next season.

Danny Rose – SELL – Seems to be done at Spurs and this will be the last chance to get any money for him.

Cameron Carter-Vickers – SELL – Spurs should take advantage of his superb loan spell at Luton and sell him now while he is in demand.

Eric Dier – STAY – Just signed a new contract and seems to be a favourite under Jose Mourinho.

Toby Alderweireld – STAY – Also just penned a new deal and provides that much-needed experience at the back – good for another year.

Davinson Sanchez – STAY – Davison Sanchez had an impressive season and has earned his place in the line-up, perhaps a back three could be on the cards.

Juan Foyth – SELL – We need to raise money and he could be fifth choice centre-back next year.

Japhet Tanganga – STAY – Another who will be sure to get game time either in the centre of defence or at right-back. One of the most promising young talents at the club.

Serge Aurier – SELL – Frustrating, to say the least, he can have a great game and then be all over the place the next. May be best to sell him and sign a younger, more defensively sound right-back.

Timothy Eyoma – LOAN – Already a done deal.

Ben Davies – STAY – Might not set the world alight but ultimately he does a good job defensively and sometimes Tottenham just need someone who can defend.

Dennis Cirkin – STAY – Not quite ready for a loan move and we feel as if he may get minutes under Mourinho next season.

George Marsh – SELL – He is older than fans may think and doesn’t look up to the grade.

Malachi Fagan-Walcott – STAY – Same as Cirkin, needs more first-team training experience, then a loan move next season.

Ryan Sessegnon – LOAN – Should be looking for a loan move to get his form back.

Dele Alli – SELL – Another underwhelming campaign blighted with injuries and he has still not hit the heights he had been predicted too. If an offer came in for him, it might be time to let him move on.

Oliver Skipp – LOAN – Has bags of potential and should look for a loan move.

Jack Roles – LOAN – Did very well out on loan last season but needs one more positive spell to launch himself into Mourinho’s pre-season plans.

Harvey White – STAY – Another who needs one more season training with the first team to grow.

Harry Winks – STAY – Divides opinion but there is no doubting his love and passion for the club. You need players who will give their all every time they pull on the jersey and in the right partnership he could be great.

Luke Amos – SELL – Doesn’t look to be good enough for the Premier League and Spurs should look to sell him to QPR.

Moussa Sissoko – STAY – His strength is probably his best attribute, but is he really the level of player Tottenham require to push on? Best suited as a squad player.

Tanguy Ndombele – STAY – Endured a season full of injuries and rumours so it is a wonder if he will be there come the start of the season. However, we believe that he is worth keeping to see if Spurs can get the best out of a player who is clearly very talented.

Giovani Lo Celso – STAY – Has the makings of a wonderful midfielder. Although only registering two assists, Lo Celso would thrive further forward if others can do the dirty work around him.

Gedson Fernandes – STAY – Hardly featured since his loan move and as to his best position, well no one is quite sure yet. Hardly expect a loan termination though.

Erik Lamela – STAY – The Argentine has that bite about him and can change games with his fiery approach. Whether or not fans would be sad to see him leave is questionable but maybe this will be the season Lamela finally shows us what he is all about.

Jack Clarke – LOAN – Last chance saloon for this youngster. He needs a good loan spell under his belt next season.

Heung-min Son – STAY – One of the first names on the team sheet.

Harry Kane – STAY – He’s one of our own.

Lucas Moura – STAY – He will dine off of that night in Amsterdam for the rest of his Spurs career. No one can fault his work rate but he needs the goals to go with it.

Steven Bergwijn – STAY – Fans can look forward to a full season of Steven Bergwijn next year after he hit the ground running but stalled due to injury.

Troy Parrott – LOAN – Already a done deal.

Kazaiah Sterling – SELL – Doesn’t look to be quite good enough and Spurs should look to sell up while they still can.
