Opinion: Five things we learned from Tottenham’s 3-1 win over West Ham

Tottenham Hotspur are up to fifth in the Premier League after a 3-1 win over London rivals West Ham.

Let’s take a look at the five things we learned from the match:

The curse is over!

Tottenham’s win-one lose-one curse is finally over and they record back-to-back wins in the Premier League for the first time since Boxing Day. Spurs fans will be hoping the curse is gone for good!

Top four race

Every time it seems as though Tottenham are out of the race, someone else slips up and they haul themselves back in. The Lilywhites are now up to fifth and are just three points behind Arsenal, although the Gunners do have a game in hand. If Spurs can keep their form up and win the North London derby… who knows.

Reguilon’s shooting boots

The Conte wing-back system is starting to come good at Spurs, particularly with Kane playing balls out to the left for Sergio Reguilon. However, despite the Spaniard being put 1v1 three or four times in the past week, he rarely ever musters much more than a tame or scuffed effort. Work needs to be done here because the timing of his runs is superb.

Just the right amount of Romero

After Conte’s comments in mid-week, Romero put in a masterclass today at the expense of Michail Antonio. He was aggressive, didn’t let the West Ham star turn on the ball, and won pretty much every duel he was involved in. He was even pulling out netmegs and making runs into the box.

If you get the vegan pie

I was a little late to the game today and grabbed myself a vegan pie before I ran to my seat. In fact, I was still eating when the first goal went in. For those who haven’t tried it, it’s like curried sweet potato and lentil and it’s delicious! Only issue is it completely fell apart in my hands, leaving me with a box of delicious pie pieces. My advice, if you get the vegan pie, grab a wooden fork too. A big lesson learned from a big win.
