Opinion: How Gareth Bale can change Tottenham’s direction

Bringing the Welsh wizard Gareth Bale back to North London after what feels like a lifetime away is without a doubt one of the signings of the window, and definitely one that will live long in the memory of Spurs fans.

After departing back in 2013 for the bright lights of Real Madrid, Spurs have been on a roller coaster of a journey with Europa League football, Champions League football, cup finals, European finals it has been a period of great emotion amongst the Spurs faithful.

However, after being within touching distance of the club’s greatest achievement in modern history the club as a whole seems to have fallen down slightly and usually this cannot be fixed by an individual but Bale could have what it takes to transform the club back to the very top.

Of course he will be on the pitch with other world class players who have the ability to win against any team but his impact off the pitch as well as on it is due to be immense.

Announcing that a player of the Wales international’s calibre will be joining the squad will only bring massive positive effects to the team. His win at all costs mentality and a player who has been a vital part of one of biggest clubs in world football most decorated periods is something we have been screaming for.

Another generational talent adding to our prolific pairing of Harry Kane and Heung Min Son will be a sight that everyone would love to see in N17, giving the success of Bale without the same class of players around him during his first spell at the club.

Something that Spurs have lacked over recent years and something which is not a secret is personnel who are proven winners, people that have what it takes to clear the hurdle which has been haunting us for so many years, and its clear that the appointment of Jose Mourinho in addition to brining Bale back on a lucrative deal proves a shift in the club priorities.

Not only will the 31-year-old help us excel on the pitch, but he will boost our overall worldwide image, something which is now so important for the club’s finances and ability to attract talent from other top teams.

We already know that Mourinho is a huge pulling factor and Bale will have a similar effect, and when players hear that Spurs are interested they will be more open to a move after knowing we have a squad capable of being trophy contenders in England and Europe.

The professionalism required to play for Los Blancos should not be overlooked either, and that type of mentality will rub off on to not only our other senior players but youth members as well when they see the hard work and dedication it takes to make it at the top level.

Bale brings a lot of things to the club that makes him one of our most influential signings since he left the club, the profile of the team automatically receives an instant enhancement with him in the ranks and all of the spurs fans across the world will be eagerly waiting for when he pulls on the Lilywhite shirt once again.
