Opinion: Player ratings from Tottenham’s stunning 3-2 against Manchester City

Tottenham secured a stunning 3-2 win in second half stoppage-time at Premier League leaders Manchester City courtesy of two goals from Harry Kane and early strike from Dejan Kulusevski.

Here’s how the players rated in a crazy encounter at the Etihad Stadium:

Hugo Lloris – 6.5 – Made another error following on from last week, after failing to hold a fairly routine cross which led to City’s equaliser. Rebounded to make a stunning reflex save at a key point midway through the second half.

Emerson Royal – 5.5 – A mixed display. Constantly targeted by City and struggled compete with the threat posed by Joao Cancelo, but made a couple of goal-saving blocks to his credit.

Cristian Romero – 7 – Unfortunate to concede a penalty in stoppage-time for a handball. Otherwise a good performance and confident in his abilities. Won plenty of individual battles both in the air and on the ground when he needed to.

Eric Dier – 7.5 – An extremely welcomed addition back into defence. Brought about a sense of calmness and order into the back line and was dominant in the air.

Ben Davies – 6.5 – Made a crucial block in the first half to deny a sure City goal to make for a steady overall display.

Ryan Sessegnon – 6 – Tried his best to provide an outlet from out wide for Spurs but couldn’t always make things work.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 7 – Grew into the game after a tricky first half and looked to dictate the tempo when Spurs were up against it.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 6 – Was a little loose in possession and not as alert as he should have been at times. Definitely not the best we will see from the Uruguayan.

Dejan Kulusevski – 8 – Took his first Spurs goal well after some unselfish play by Son and put in a fantastic assist for Kane’s second goal. Confident all round and hopefully just the start of more things to come.

Heung-min Son – 8 – A vital part towards Spurs’ counter-attacking play and showed good initiative to square for Kulusevski to tap in. Put in an inch perfect cross for Kane to bury in the second half.

Harry Kane – 10 – Harry. Kane. Demonstrated his world class centre forward play on so many occasions throughout. Played a super ball through to Son in the build-up to Kulusevski’s strike and took both of his goals excellently. An absolutely stellar display.
