Opinion: Player Ratings – Spurs 2-1 Fulham

Tottenham Hotspur maintained their unbeaten run this afternoon at home to Fulham with a 2-1 win.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Hugo Lloris – 7.5 – Beyond a Mitrovic curler into the top corner, Hugo stood up to every challenge today. Solid performance from the skipper.

Emerson Royal – 7.5 – The Brazilian was once again impressive in defence today, with very few Fulham threats coming from his side. His crossing left a lot to be desired but his passing out from the back was really good.

Cristian Romero – 7.5 – The man is just everywhere. Not only does he defend his own side as ruthlessly as possible, but he covers in behind on the left too. Was also class on the ball and helped Spurs to get up the pitch. Should have done better against Mitrovic for Fulham’s goal though.

Eric Dier – 8 – Fantastic performance in a new-look back three. Eric pushed up today to offer more options when passing out from the back, but also dealt with balls into Mitrovic really well.

Clement Lenglet – 8.5 – About as good a debut as you could ask for from the LCB. You could tell exactly why he had been chosen, for his quality on the ball when passing out from the back. A superb option to have in possession games.

Ryan Sessegnon – 8 – This kid will run for you all day long. He defended with great energy, and provided a constant outlet down the left. I just want him to be a little more clinical and ruthless with the ball at his feet. Did great for the second goal and disallowed goal but had the chance to fill his boots with assists today.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 9 – My MOTM today. Showed exactly what Spurs were missing in mid-week. Bentancur is always moving, always creating time and space, and always driving Spurs forward. Off the ball, his positioning is also class and he isn’t afraid to get stuck in.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 8.5 – How this guy gets as much stick as he does, I’ll never know. He sacrifices so much for the team and is now starting to get into scoring positions too. A class act in the engine room for Spurs today and a well-taken goal.

Richarlison – 8 – Full of running, energy, attacking intent and hard work today. Should have grabbed a couple of goals but his assist for Hojbjerg was great. Looks to be forging a great relationship with Kane and Son.

Heung-min Son – 8.5 – Son’s best game of the season by far. He was a constant driving force for Spurs across the front line and was involved in most of the impressive moves Tottenham put together. The goals will come, but the performances are more important.

Harry Kane – 8 – Kane’s performance may go under the radar a little today, but his link up play in the final third was world class. Scored a goal of his own but also created so many chances for his teammates. Class act.
