Opinion: Player Ratings – Tottenham 2-1 Leeds

Tottenham Hotspur recorded their first Premier League win under Antonio Conte this evening, coming from behind to beat Leeds United 2-1.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Hugo Lloris – 8 – Very steady with his hands today. A few very good saves and no mistakes with the easy ones. Only fault was with his feet really.

Emerson Royal – 7.5 – Struggled at times in the first half while on the ball, but was a lot more effective in the second 45. Still yet to decided if he is a better RWB or RCB.

Japhet Tanganga – 7 – I was pretty impressed with Japhet. RCB is definitely his best position, a hybrid between what he has played in the past. Defensively pretty solid and got forward well.

Eric Dier – 8 – Gets a lot of stick but I thought he was great today. Won everything in the air, stepped out well and I suppose we have to give some half-hearted credit for his free-kick.

Ben Davies – 7 – This back three formation could be a sliding doors moment for Davies. He looks solid and steady game by game and today was no different.

Sergio Reguilon – 9 – A wonderful display. So energetic. Constantly available wide left for crosses and passes. Creative and even got a goal! Still lots of room for improvement too, which is exciting.

Harry Winks – 7 – A little creaky to start with but he hasn’t played a lot of football. Grew into the game and had a great second half. Also just worked his socks off.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 8.5 – Much like Winks, he was slightly all over the place in the first 45 but class in the second. Also took his goal nicely which he needs to do in this formation.

Lucas Moura – 8 – I felt for him in the first half. He was fouled more often than not and kept receiving the ball from teammates while under pressure. In the second half, he made driving runs and consistently made things happen.

Heung-min Son – 6.5 – A little lost at times in the new number ten role. Much better in the second half when there was more space to roam. It will come, just a period of adjustment.

Harry Kane – 7 – One of the shining lights in the first half with his hold-up play and balls in behind to the wing-backs considering he was feeding off scraps. Very tidy and professional in the second half too.

Substitutions:

Davinson Sanchez – 6.5 – Came on and won everything in the air while showing pace at the back when needed too.

Ryan Sessegnon – 6.5 – Great to see him back and he looked so bright. Scored but it was offside.

Dele Alli – N/A
