Opinion: Player Ratings – Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Aston Villa

Tottenham Hotspur confirmed their season to forget this evening after they lost 2-1 to Aston Villa in their final home match of the campaign.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Hugo Lloris – 7.5 – Much like the rest of the season, Hugo played well but couldn’t stop the defensive mistakes.

Japhet Tanganga – 6 – Solid 1v1 defending but looks well short of the necessary attacking quality at right-back. Shame to see him pick up another injury.

Toby Alderweireld – 4 – Got outplayed by the Villa attackers all game long. Didn’t have the pace to keep up.

Eric Dier – 3 – Like a headless chicken at times. Woeful defending and even worse coming out with the ball at his feet.

Sergio Reguilon – 2 – Essentially made Villa’s two goals for them. What on Earth was he thinking?

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 4.5 – At least he showed effort but way off in terms of passing quality.

Harry Winks – 4 – Started the game really well before quickly fading and losing his calmness on the ball.

Dele Alli – 6 – Worked his socks off more than any other player. Unfortunately, on the ball he was too slow and inconsistent.

Steven Bergwijn – 7.5 – Took his goal so well and made it himself. Took up some great areas too. Promising for first game back.

Heung-Min Son – 4 – Absent from the vast majority of the game. Wanted him to take people on but always seemed to pass backwards.

Harry Kane – 4 – If he didn’t want to leave before, he probably does now. Struggled to make a mark on the match and the team didn’t look like creating him a chance.

Substitutes:

Gareth Bale – 4 – A few nice moments but wasn’t given enough time.

Tanguy Ndombele – 4 – Another player who should have been given more time by Mason.

Matt Doherty – NA
