Opinion: The sky is the limit for Troy Parrott

After earning his first international cap for the Republic of Ireland on Thursday night and claiming an assist in a 3-1 friendly win over New Zealand (BBC Sport), many are predicting a successful career for teenage starlet Troy Parrott.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker has impressed for the last couple of years, and his progress has shown no signs of stopping.

At just 17 years of age, Parrott has already made his senior debut for Spurs and Ireland. He started in the Carabao Cup against Colchester and at academy level so far this season has scored seven goals in five matches – five in the UEFA Youth League and two in Premier League 2 (Transfer Markt).

He is said caught the eye of some of Europe’s tops clubs such as Bayern Munich (90min), but Spurs will be desperate to keep hold of him and oversee his impressive growth as a centre forward.

There is no doubt that he will slowly get more and more first team opportunities, and particularly with how the season has been so far for Spurs, fresh, hungry players such as Parrott may be what they are crying out for at this tough time.

Troy Parrott is certainly a player that Tottenham fans can get excited about. With his whole career ahead of him, there are signs that he could eventually be Harry Kane’s successor, and one day reach his world class level. As long as he keeps his head down and continues to work hard, the sky really is the limit for this exciting young Irishman.
