Spurs full time ratings vs West Ham – A game of two halves

Here’s how we rated the Spurs players after 90 minutes in this evening’s Premier League clash against West Ham United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side held a delicate one goal lead at half-time through Cristian Romero‘s fine headed goal early in the first half, but West Ham turned the game around in the second and were rewarded for their persistence with a 2-1 win in this London derby.

Guglielmo Vicario: Couldn’t do anything about the first goal. Should have been braver to come and get the ball for the second. 5.

Pedro Porro: One of Tottenham’s main creative outlets tonight. Pushed forward with enthusiasm, delivered a great ball for Romero’s goal, and almost got one himself in the second half. 7.

Cristian Romero: Marked his return from suspension with a goal, and was rarely beaten in one-on-one situations. Was part of the ricochet that led to West Ham’s first goal, but knew very little about it. 7.

Ben Davies: Beaten for pace and strength far too regularly, putting the Spurs defence under pressure. Ball rebounded off him for the first West Ham goal. Did very little else of note. 4.

Destiny Udogie: Great energy going forward, and some smart defending at times, but his night will be remembered for that horrendous back pass which led to James Ward-Prowse’s goal. 6.

Yves Bissouma: Much closer to being back to his best, showing plenty of composure in the central areas, but failed to really dictate the flow of the game. Taken off after 83 minutes. 6.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: A performance riddled with mistakes, sloppy passes, and wrong decisions. Replaced by Richarlison after 66 minutes, and not a moment too soon. 3.

Giovani Lo Celso: Didn’t do anything wrong, per se, but lacked that creative spark we’ve seen of late. Was always looking for the perfect pass and it never quite came off. Replaced by Skipp after 67 minutes. 6.

Dejan Kulusevski: Looked lost on the right wing. Moved central again with 20 minutes to go, but still struggled to make an impact and made some careless passes. 4.

Heung-min Son: Starved of any kind of effective service while playing through the middle. Moved out to the left to accommodate for Richarlison, and failed to create anything out wide. Taken off with a few minutes left. 5.

Brennan Johnson: A disappointing night for a player who has been in such good form. Went missing at times, and hardly ever made the right decision with the ball at his feet. Replaced by Bryan Gil after 83 minutes. 5.

Richarlison: On for Hojbjerg with 25 minutes to go. Took on the centre forward role, pushing Son out wide. Missed a golden chance moments after coming on, sending a header wide. Posed no threat to the West Ham defence. 4.

Oliver Skipp: Replaced Lo Celso on 67 minutes. Hardly seemed to touch the ball. 5.

Pape Sarr: On for Bissouma with a little under ten minutes to go. Missed a good chance. But, looked tidy on the ball. 6.

Bryan Gil: Replaced Brennan Johnson in the final ten minutes. Failed to make any kind of impact. 5.

Alejo Veliz: On for Son with three minutes of regulation time remaining. N/A.
