Spurs half time ratings vs Aston Villa – Another frustrating half of football

Tottenham head into the break against Unai Emery’s side currently level at 0-0.

Hugo Lloris: Back in the team after being rested at Brentford, mostly a spectator. 5.

Matt Doherty: Did well on twelve minutes with a great nutmeg on Mings only to be tackled when in front of goal. 5.

Cristian Romero: Booked for a typically-aggressive challenge after tackling through Watkins. 5.

Ben Davies: Booked nine minutes before half time which meant all three of Spurs’ central defenders are on yellow cards. 5.

Clement Lenglet: Booked on the half hour mark after he hauled Bailey over to stop the Villa man breaking in behind. Played a clever ball over the top to release Perisic. 5.

Ivan Perisic: Has not looked to get the ball into the penalty area when in attacking position but did well later on to break the line to create the opportunity for Kane’s header. 5.

Yves Bissouma: Better than at Brentford, but still not offering enough to link up with the forward players. 5.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: Many of his passes have either been sideways to Bissouma, or has given the ball away when he rarely looks forward. 5.

Bryan Gil: Apart from an early one-two with Doherty, has done little. 5.

Heung-min Son: Threw off his protective mask in frustration after 20 minutes moments after losing the ball. Could have given Kane a clear chance on goal if his cushioned pass was not so heavy. 5.

Harry Kane: Nothing more than a passenger for over half of the first period. Saw his header cleared off the line by Ashley Young after a good run from Perisic. 5.
