Here’s how we rated the Spurs players following the opening forty-five minutes of action in this evening’s Premier League clash against Brentford at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadiun.
Ange Postecoglou’s side head into the break currently trailing 1-0 to Neal Maupay’s early goal.
Guglielmo Vicario: Did well to save from Toney and could do little to prevent Brentford’s opener. Pushed Toney’s header wide on the cusp of half time. 6.
Pedro Porro: Has been tucking in to try to get involved further up the pitch, his crossing has failed to cause any issues. 5.
Cristian Romero: Was stuck in two minds of whether to close down Toney and could only watch as his challenge on Maupay helped the ball over Vicario. 6.
Micky van de Ven: Has made a couple of important tackles with Brentford looking to get behind on every occasion. 6.
Destiny Udogie: Got caught in possession which lead to Brentford’s opener. 5.
Rodrigo Bentancur: Went on a mazy run into the Brentford box but did not pull the trigger for some reason. Needs to make some better decisions with his passing. 6.
Oliver Skipp: Had an early opportunity on goal but saw his shot blocked. Made a crucial interception to deny the Bees a second. 6.
James Maddison: A welcome return to the starting eleven, his ability to thread a pass and look to get on the ball in attacking areas has been missed. Did not take too well to Maupay’s darts celebration. 6.
Dejan Kulusevski: Another quiet half from the Swede who has not looked at his sharpest since his recent illness. Booked after a clash with Maupay. 5.
Richarlison: Was inches away from a stunning curling effort from outside of the box which went the wrong side of the post. 6.
Timo Werner: His pace has found himself in space down the left, unfortunately his delivery into the box has been to an opposition player. Went close with a shot and should have done better with a header which went well wide. 5.
