Spurs half time ratings vs Lion City Sailors – Poor defending costs Ange’s side

Here’s how we rated the Tottenham Hotspur players following the opening forty-five minutes of action against Lion City Sailors in today’s pre-season friendly match in Singapore.

Ange Postecoglou’s side head into the break against their opponents currently level at 1-1 after Harry Kane’s late penalty rescued Spurs from a first half defeat.

Guglielmo Vicario: Will be disappointed to have conceded so early on, has had little to do since the goal. 5.

Pedro Porro: Caught out for the opener, was unaware of the position of the goalscorer – initially looked over his shoulder but Anuar capitalised from a lapse of judgment. Looked nervous again from a cross on 27 minutes which ended up going behind for a corner. 5.

Cristian Romero: Has had a couple of half-chance headed opportunities from corner kicks. 6.

Ben Davies: Nothing really of note from the Welshman of note. 5.

Destiny Udogie: Got himself in a great position to deliver a cross after 11 minutes but hit his cross over the head of Kulusevski. Has looked to drive forward with the ball and create attacking opportunities. 6.

Pape Matar Sarr: Has played some very good passes forward, notably one down the touchline to release Kulusevski and headed over from the resulting corner. Showed brilliant technique to control the ball and was unlucky to see his volley brush the top of the crossbar. Won the penalty. 8.

Yves Bissouma: Looks a different player already this season and has linked up nicely with Maddison on occasion. 7.

James Maddison: Had a shot from long-range just before the twenty-minute mark which the keeper saved. Still trying to get his eye in with shots from outside the area. Showed some lovely footwork to get himself in the box and decided to cut back rather than shoot. Will be disappointed to have fired a shot straight at the keeper ten minutes before half time. 8.

Dejan Kulusevski: Will feel harshly done by the referee when he was brought down by the keeper and no penalty was awarded. Has had plenty of space down the right to show off his footwork. 7.

Harry Kane: Went close early on when he dragged his shot wide from Maddison’s cut-back. Scored from the spot. 6.

Heung-min Son: A quiet shift from the South Korean, making his first appearance of the tour. Had a chance to play the ball back across for a chance for Kane but too much on his pass. Saw his goal chalked off due to an offside. Tried to curl one into the top corner with his left foot just before half time and was a fraction off with his finish. 6.
