Cristian Romero: Booked after 22 minutes. Made a brilliant recovery challenge to deny Grealish a shot on goal, went to sleep for a moment with Haaland’s header over the bar. 6.

Eric Dier: Made an important block to get his body in the way of an Alvarez shot. 6.

Ben Davies: Risked a booking early on with a couple of challenges on Alvarez. Played a good cross into the box for Son’s headed chance. Caught out of position for Haaland’s headed chance before half time. 5.

Ivan Perisic: Much more assured on the left side than Sessegnon. 6.

Rodrigo Bentancur: Back into the starting eleven following injury and has made a huge impact in the middle of the park. Brilliant pressing from the Uruguyan in the build-up to Kulusevski’s goal. 8.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: Booked for a challenge on Lewis on the half hour. 5.

Harry Kane Has tried to create room but has often found himself surrounded by a number of City players. Did brilliantly to win the ball back in the lead up to Royal’s header. 7.

Dejan Kulusevski: Has struggled to get into the match but showed great composure to open the scoring. 6.

Heung-min Son: Still lacking confidence which was clear to see when he struggled to break clear with the ball and was caught by Grealish. Saw his headed chance come off Ake. 5.
