Spurs half time ratings vs Man Utd – Poor defending costs Tottenham dearly

Here’s how we rated the Spurs players following the opening forty-five minutes of action in this afternoon’s Premier League clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Ange Postecoglou’s side head into the break currently 2-1 behind after Marcus Rashford’s goal put United back in front.

Guglielmo Vicario: Helpless for both of United’s goals. 6.

Pedro Porro: A couple of yards out of place which proved to be costly for the opening goal and needs to be careful with Rashford playing off his shoulder. Delivered a brilliant corner onto the head of Richarlison. His positioning was again at fault for Rashford’s goal. 6.

Cristian Romero: Captaining the side upon his return from injury and nearly scord an equaliser but saw his header crash back off the crossbar. 6.

Micky van de Ven: Had Bentancur to thank when he lost the ball on the edge of his own box which nearly led to a United chance. 6.

Destiny Udogie: Has defended brilliantly when up against Garnacho. Was a very lucky boy when he headed against his own post when under no immediate pressure. 7.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: Playing as the deepest of Tottenham’s midfield trio, needs to help out the defence much, much more. 5.

Oliver Skipp: Has covered plenty of the pitch but has not done anything of note. 5.

Rodrigo Bentancur: Saw an early header cleared off the line by Dalot. Did well to bail out van de Ven when he was dispossessed. Foolishly booked for kicking the ball away. 7.

Richarlison: Rose well to direct Porro’s arrow of a corner into the bottom corner, has worked tirelessly to try to win the ball back at the top of the pitch. 7.

Timo Werner: Straight into the team to make his debut and went close with a header early on, had a couple of wasteful chances soon after and pulled a shot wide on the cusp of half time. 6.

Brennan Johnson: Has worked hard but his final ball delivery is still nowhere near where it should be. 5.
