Spurs half time ratings vs Nottingham Forest – Two huge defensive errors

Here’s how we rated the Spurs players following the opening forty-five minutes of action in this evening’s Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ange Postecoglou’s side head into the break currently level at 1-1 after some poor defensive decisions have proven to be costly and are lucky not to be 2-1 down.

Guglielmo Vicario: Breathed a sigh of relief when he was left scrambling back to his goal following Murillo’s long-range effort. Could do little for the equaliser but saved well in the build-up for the effort which Wood somehow hit against the post. 6.

Pedro Porro: Made a horrific defensive error which nearly gifted Forest the lead but fortunately Wood could only hit the post. 3.

Cristian Romero: Tried to stop the cross for Woods’ goal, only to see the ball played under him. 5.

Micky van de Ven: His turn of pace continues to be a brilliant asset in getting Spurs out of trouble. 5.

Destiny Udogie: Failed to track the run of the Forest player which led to Woods’ equaliser, a really poor decision. 3.

Pape Matar Sarr: Plenty of running, but has not been able to get things moving. 4.

Yves Bissouma: Did well in the build-up for the opening goal. Went close with an effort from the edge of the box. Had another try which was straight down the barrel of the keeper. The groan when he lost possession before half time summed up his recent form. 4.

James Maddison: Has had plenty of touches of the ball but once again has not provided the influence in attacking areas. His frustration was clear when he clashed with Yates just before the break. 3.

Timo Werner: Helped Spurs to take the lead when his cross into the box was turned into his own net by Murillo. He nearly had a second assist with Johnson’s chance. Booked. 6.

Brennan Johnson: Thought he had scored from a matter of yards out, only for the keeper to pull off a remarkable save. Wasted a good opportunity before half time when he failed to reach a team-mate with his cross. 4.

Heung-min Son: Appealed for a penalty in the 22nd minute but it fell on deaf ears, had not had a clear cut opportunity with Spurs trying to pass the ball too much around the penalty area. 4.
