Spurs half time ratings vs Wolves – Postecoglou’s men are second best

Here’s how we rated the Spurs players following the opening forty-five minutes of action in this afternoon’s Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side head into the break currently a goal behind after conceding from a corner late on in the half, and they have been left frustrated by a well-organised Wolves side so far.

Tottenham’s half-time ratings

Guglielmo Vicario: Held on to one shot really well. Little else to do otherwise. Was rooted to the spot for the Wolves goal. Made a huge save in injury time. 6.

Emerson Royal: Sloppy in possesssion a few times. Is not quite as comfortable playing the possession-based style Postecoglou wants and really looks panicked. 4.

Cristian Romero: Played some really nice passes around the pitch and made some important blocks. 6.

Micky van de Ven: So comfortable and assured in recovery. Has carried the ball forward nicely a couple of times, too. 6.

Ben Davies: Did really well in a one-on-one situation against Nelson Semedo. Didn’t deal with Sarabia quite as well, though. 5.

Yves Bissouma: Strong and solid in the middle of the park. Made a crucial interception when Wolves were ready to shoot in the box after a counter-attack. Just needs to take it up to the next level and make a bigger impact on the game. 6.

Pape Matar Sarr: Showed lots of energy and willingness to drive forward, but like Bissouma, has been unable to really assert himself in the middle of the park. 6.

James Maddison: Hasn’t been able to pull the strings as much as he would like, with Wolves frustrating Spurs in the middle. When he finally got a chance to make a difference, he played a neat little ball into Kulusevski. 6.

Dejan Kulusevski: If only he would try to whip some balls in with his right foot, because Kulusevski is becoming rather predictable when he cuts in on his left every time. Poor finish from a good chance after Maddison played him in. 5.

Richarlison: Covered a lot of distance and worked hard to press from the front. Hardly had a sniff of action in the box, though, and will need to battle hard to get an opportunity on goal in the second half. 6.

Heung-min Son: Another player that Wolves were clearly trying to supress as much as possible, and it worked by and large. Son has barely made an impact on the game so far and will need to pull something out of his magic hat soon. 5.
