Xavi Simons has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur and there are a number of reasons why he should be the club’s top transfer target of the summer window.
Not a day seems to go by without Tottenham being linked with new players. One name to have done the rounds for some time is Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze. The England international registered eight goals and eights assists in the Premier League last season and scored the winning goal in the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
Eze definitely looked more creative during Palace’s most recent campaign. His assist tally was the highest it has been in five Premier League seasons and while he scored three fewer goals than the previous term, his numbers have remained pretty consistent.
The 26-year-old has plenty of experience in the English top flight and if Spurs were to bring him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he would be a great signing.
However, Eze has a £68m release clause and he turns 27 this month. While that certainly does not make him old, getting someone of a similar quality who is younger would be advantageous.

Tottenham should put all their resources into signing Xavi Simons
Top flight experience in England is a useful quality to possess, but plenty of players have come from another country and taken the Premier League by storm.
RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons is one player who could do just that. He has only recently turned 22, but has already appeared in two consecutive seasons in the Champions League and hit double digits for goals in the Eredivisie and the Bundesliga. In fact, he scored 19 league goals for PSV Eindhoven, whilst still being a teenager for most of the campaign.
Simons managed 10 goals and seven assists last season and registering goal contributions is just one aspect of his game. He knows how to pick a pass, is good on the ball and often displays calmness and composure.

How likely are Spurs to sign Xavi Simons?
Simons would cost Tottenham at least £60m, which is a similar price to what they would be expected to pay for Eze.
Signing both players would be the dream scenario, but with the similarity of the players, there is little to no chance of a deal being sealed for both players.
Tottenham are not the only club interested in Simons and there has been no advancement from Spurs as of yet. This must change, because Simons would be the perfect fit for Tottenham. He is a young, composed midfielder with an eye for goals and assists.
Other than Bryan Mbeumo, Simons is the most exciting player currently linked with a move to N17. This is a player who, if signed, could become a key player for a number of years.
Spurs would be wise to get a bid in sooner rather than later.
