Tottenham are set to face their fierce London rivals Chelsea in the final game of their Australia and New Zealand summer tour of 2026 on Saturday at Sydney’s Accor Stadium.
Tottenham‘s pre-season has gone exactly to plan so far, with Roberto De Zerbi’s men winning all three of their friendlies to date.
After beating MK Dons 1-0 in a behind-closed-doors fixture at Hotspur Way, Spurs followed it up with a 2-0 victory over Auckland FC before edging past Sydney FC 2-4 on penalties after drawing 1-1 on Wednesday.
Mathys Tel curled home a superb free-kick in the first half before Sydney found an equaliser 10 minutes into the second when Tottenham gifted them a scrappy goal.
Spurs created enough chances to win the game outright, with Conor Gallagher particularly unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet, but the evening still proved worthwhile, given that it gave the squad a good shootout practice.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have played just once so far this summer. New head coach Xabi Alonso watched his side concede four goals against Western Sydney Wanderers in his first game in charge, but the Blues still ran out 6-4 winners thanks in large part to a late Joao Pedro hat-trick from the bench.

Andy Robertson pulled on a Tottenham shirt for the first time against Sydney FC and marked the occasion by captaining the side, producing a solid display down the left-hand side.
However, £85m summer signing Mateus Fernandes missed the game with fatigue in his calf and is now expected to return only once the squad are back in London later this week.
James Maddison and Destiny Udogie are yet to feature in any of Tottenham’s pre-season friendlies despite travelling with the squad. De Zerbi has described the issue as ‘not a big problem’ and admitted they ‘maybe’ could be involved in this fixture.
Cristian Romero, Marcos Senesi, Pedro Porro, Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Matar Sarr are all on an extended leave following their World Cup duties.
On the injury front, Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons, Dejan Kulusevski, Wilson Odobert and Guglielmo Vicario have remained back in England as they continue their respective rehabilitation programmes.

Xabi Alonso named a largely academy-based starting XI against Western Sydney before introducing many of his senior players from the bench, but we expect several of those experienced names to start this time around.
Reece James, Enzo Fernandez, Mike Penders, Moises Caicedo, Pedro Neto, Malo Gusto, Trevoh Chalobah, Kendry Paez and Nicolas Jackson have all been granted additional time off following their World Cup commitments.
New signing Marco Palestra has also not travelled after picking up a minor injury and remains at Cobham to recover.

As far as we know, there are no injury concerns surrounding any of them, with the decision appearing to be more about managing their workloads, and we believe all three could finally feature over here.
That said, pre-season line-up predictions are rarely spot on. These are the players we expect to be involved, but there is every chance De Zerbi mixes things up, with Richarlison or several other youngsters also pushing for minutes.
Our Spurs score prediction
It was only towards the end of last season that these two sides last met, with Tottenham battling relegation and Chelsea chasing European qualification. Despite Spurs arguably producing the better overall performance, Calum McFarlane’s side came away with a 2-1 victory.
And no matter how many times this fixture is labelled a friendly, London derbies have a habit of refusing to feel like one.
Tottenham’s meeting with Arsenal during last summer’s pre-season was proof enough of that, so there should be no shortage of intensity as youngsters across both teams look to impress their managers ahead of their first full seasons in charge.
Keep an eye on 17-year-old Luca Williams-Barnett, who has arguably been Tottenham’s standout performer across all three friendlies so far. The academy star has gone close to getting on the scoresheet more than once, and Saturday could finally be the day he gets the goal his performances deserve.
