‘A lie’ – Report rubbishes claims about Spurs’ rumoured transfer agreement

Estadio Deportivo have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have not made any contact with Sevilla regarding Jules Kounde despite reports to the contrary over recent days.

Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for Kounde over the past few weeks and it appeared as if the Premier League club had finally managed to reach an agreement.

Gianluca Di Marzio reported earlier this week that Spurs had agreed on a fee of around €30m (£25.6m) plus Davinson Sanchez with Sevilla for the 22-year-old.

However, the excitement among Spurs fans did not last for long as it soon emerged from multiple sources (Matteo Moretto and Marca) that the French international had turned down the Lilywhites since they were not in the Champions League.

Fabrizio Romano also revealed on Thursday that negotiations between Sevilla and Spurs for the 22-year-old were not progressing as the two clubs had hoped.

However, if Estadio Deportivo’s latest update is to be believed, Tottenham are yet to open talks with the La Liga club at all.

The report reveals that when the publication reached out to Sevilla for comments regarding the speculation linking Kounde with a move to Spurs, the Andalusian club labelled the media reports “a lie”.

However, it is explained that Sevilla do hope to cash in on Kounde and use the funds from the defender’s sale to pursue their top transfer targets this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

One has to take Sevilla’s denial about talks with Spurs with a pinch of salt. The chances that all the varied sources are wrong on the matter, is quite slim.

However, that does not mean that we are likely to win the race for the Frenchman as more clubs will likely enter the race for him in the coming weeks.
