Alasdair Gold believes that one Tottenham youngster’s performances out on loan have gone completely under the radar this season and predicted that the player might soon have an important first-team role at Spurs.
Spurs have a host of extremely promising young talents in their ranks, and not just the likes of Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray, Wilson Odobert, Mathys Tel, and Mikey Moore, but also the ones who are thriving on loan.
The likes of Josh Keeley, Jamie Donley, Alfie Devine, and Luka Vuskovic have been winning many admirers since the start of the season while Yang Min-hyeok and Will Lankshear have also made bright starts to their stint in the EFL following their January loan moves.
However, Alasdair Gold believes that one Spurs academy youngster is not receiving as many plaudits as he should for his exploits this season: George Abbott.

Alasdair Gold makes prediction about George Abbott
Abbott, who is a number six by trade but can also operate at right-back, has been flawless in the base of the Notts County midfield since making the loan switch to the League Two side last summer.
The 19-year-old also has four goals and four assists to his name so far and is spearheading the club’s promotion push to the third tier of English football.
Gold is hopeful that the teenager will grab any opportunities that come his way at Spurs with both hands and become a first-team option for Ange Postecoglou‘s men. So far, Abbott has made one senior appearance off the bench for the Tottenham first team.
When asked which Spurs youngster he is excited about, the journalist said on Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast: “I think George Abbott could maybe, like I said, be the one who goes under the radar and maybe, you know, becomes a part of the Spurs team in the future.
“He’s certainly got the qualities. But as I’ve said, it might be a case of he goes out and learns again next year, steps up, whether that’s League One or to the Championship. But I think there’s a really good player there.
“And, yeah, fingers crossed, George will get an opportunity. Yeah, I mean, still only 19. He’s very versatile. A few or in the last kind of couple of seasons, people within the Academy have constantly told me, just keep an eye on George Abbott.”
Abbott needs another loan spell before Tottenham chance
Someone like Jamie Donley potentially looks ready to slot into the Tottenham first-team next season and will almost certainly be given opportunities to impress in pre-season.
However, Abbott is a year younger than Donley and a little more raw, which is why the North London club might want him to get more experience in senior football next season.
A loan switch to the Championship might be the ideal challenge for the defensive midfielder next term.
