Andy Robertson has opened up on his early impressions of life at Tottenham Hotspur after completing his summer transfer to North London.
The Scotland international captain was away at the World Cup when he was announced as Tottenham’s first signing of the summer transfer window.
Robertson arrives in North London on a free transfer after establishing himself as one of Europe’s best left-backs during a trophy-laden decade at Anfield.
Although he did not feature in Spurs’ opening pre-season fixture against MK Dons, the 32-year-old has travelled with the squad for their tour of Australia and New Zealand and is expected to make his first appearance against Auckland FC on Sunday.
The defender seems to have already settled in quickly with his new teammates, particularly James Maddison, who was his partner on the 26-hour journey down under.

Speaking to the media for the first time as a Tottenham player at a press conference in Auckland ahead of the game, football.london’s Alasdair Gold asked Robertson what he has made of his new club so far.
The former Liverpool man responded with high praise for the welcome he has received from everyone across the club since making the move to N17.
Robertson said: “Yeah, [Tottenham] has been great so far. Everyone very welcoming. Trying to get older players, the new players, settled into the squad as quickly as possible. The lads have been great in the changing room.
“Obviously, everyone came back at different times and things like that, but yeah, it’s been great. Obviously, there wasn’t much time for training before we left. We all had to do our testing and things like that.
“And then we’ve had a long journey, so not too much time on pitch, but so far, it’s been amazing. All the staff, all the players have been really welcoming, and obviously the fans and things like that online.
“And so yeah, it’s great to be a part of a big club. And like I said, I’m excited for the next two years here. But for me, my focus just now is to get up to speed and be ready for the Premier League start, and I think that’s the same for all of us.”

Sunday’s fixture will take place at the iconic 50,000-capacity Eden Park, which is New Zealand’s biggest stadium, with a huge crowd expected to attend the match.
When asked how much he knows about New Zealand football, Robertson revealed that he had watched them in the recently concluded World Cup before speaking about the squad’s eagerness for the fixture.
Robertson added: “We are excited to be here, the first team to be here in a while for the Premier League. So I am sure other people are excited as well.
“We look forward to the game tomorrow. Like the manager said, it is going to be a big crowd. 40,000 people here. We look forward to seeing them and hopefully we can get what we need out of the game as well.”
