Mikey Moore impresses again

Mikey Moore was handed another start in the Europa League by Ange Postecoglou on Thursday night, and the youngster repaid his manager’s faith with another very impressive performance.

While his impact was limited on the right-hand side in the first half, Moore switched to the left after the break and came out of the traps flying.

The 17-year-old was demanding the ball, showcasing his trickery and vision with a number of great runs and passes, and was unfortunate not to see one of his passes or shots lead to a goal in the end.

Speaking to the press after the game (via Football.London), the Spurs boss was clearly delighted with Moore’s performance.

He said: “He was exciting, you cannot deny it. I love the way Mikey is taking it all in his stride. He’s working hard every day and wanting to develop. He’s understanding this is a journey. It’s exciting. He’s developing really well. I had no fear throwing him in. I see him every day and he’s a great young player.”

Postecoglou wants Moore to improve on headers

Moore did have one glorious chance in the first half, when Timo Werner whipped a ball to the back post, and the youngster had a relatively free header but nodded the ball wide of the post.

Poking fun at this miss, Postecoglou added: “He’s got to work on his heading to be fair. That’s what I mean, he’s got a really mature outlook and doesn’t let those things faze him. I think he looks more comfortable out on the left. He still contributes when played on the right.

“The thing that gives me the most confidence is how he is handling everything. It’s exciting.”

Moore’s first goal will be huge

Mikey Moore has shown already that he is an incredible talent, and he’s really starting to dictate games, too, which is unbelievable for his age. If he can just get that first goal, I think we’ll see him truly explode onto the scene and become a more regular fixture in the team. That goal is coming, too.
