Ange Postecoglou sheds light on Scott Munn’s position amid exit rumours

Ange Postecoglou has now responded to the ongoing speculation over the future of Tottenham’s chief football officer, Scott Munn and has explained why the Australian’s role behind the scenes.

Following the appointment of Vinai Venkatesham as Tottenham’s new chief executive officer, there is a question mark over how the club’s structure will change.

According to reports, Venkatesham will take full responsibility for all operational matters on and off the field and will work closely with Daniel Levy to fulfil those responsibilities.

This potentially raises concerns over the future of Munn, who has been the number two at Tottenham behind Levy since the summer of 2023.

Ange Postecoglou addresses speculation over Scott Munn’s future

It was even reported by The Telegraph last week that Scott Munn could follow Ange Postecoglou out of the door at Tottenham this summer.

The Spurs boss has now spoken about the future of his compatriot, explaining that he works very closely with the 51-year-old at Hotspur Way on an everyday basis.

Postecoglou insisted that even though we do not hear much from the club’s chief football officer, he does a lot of valuable work behind the scenes.

When asked about Munn’s future being the subject of speculation, the Tottenham head coach responded (via Alasdair Gold): “He’s not the only one, mate. I don’t think it’s that much behind the scenes, pretty evident what he does. He’s in charge of pretty much all the football matters, particularly from an administration standpoint.

“He’s in charge of various departments that report in, you know football operations. I deal with him probably on a daily basis, you know, he works really, really hard. He’s very diligent with everything he does. He’s very focused on.

“What we need to build here, and he’s an important part of what we’re doing. I don’t think he does it in the shadows. I think it’s pretty evident.

“Like I said, obviously you don’t hear from him, you don’t hear from a lot of people at the club, you just hear from me, but I’m certainly not the one who does all the work around the football operations. It’s a massive, massive part of any football club, particularly this one, and Scott plays a huge role in that.”

Will Vinai Venkatesham’s arrival affect Daniel Levy’s role?

The big question in the minds of Spurs fans is not what happens to Munn, but rather whether the appointment of the new CEO will see Levy taking a step back from his responsibilities at the helm of the club.

However, it was revealed by one outlet last week that Levy is not expected to give up any control of Tottenham despite Venkatesham’s arrival.

In fact, the update explained that the 44-year-old’s appointment is seen by many inside the game as a move by the Spurs chairman to strengthen his position amidst the fan protests this season.
