Feyenoord boss Arne Slot has been speaking to the press about the rumours linking him to the managerial role at Tottenham Hotspur, but insisted he is not keen to discuss his future at the Dutch giants.
Tottenham are searching for their next permanent manager after parting ways with Antonio Conte at the end of March, and relieving his former assistant Cristian Stellini of interim duties after just four games.
Ryan Mason is currently operating as acting head coach at the club, but it is thought he will be replaced by a more experienced full-time coach at the end of the season.
Many names have come and gone as the rumour mill continues to turn in North London, but one name now sticks out as a viable option – Arne Slot.
Just this week, reports from the Telegraph claimed Spurs were stepping up their interest in Slot and suggested Feyenoord were bracing themselves for a formal approach for their coach.
Slot’s assistant manager, John de Wolf, had thrown that situation into doubt recently when he claimed he would not join Slot if he were to pursue a career in England (NPO’s Taxi Castricum).
Now, Slot himself has spoken to the press (via Fabrizio Romano) on the matter and gave very little away.
The 44-year-old said: “I don’t want to comment on my future now. If my next step is in the Netherlands, so I completely failed in the next few years.”
It’s unclear quite what Slot means by that last line, but the key here is that he is now being drawn on the matter at this stage.

The fact Slot has not denied the links suggests to me that he is waiting until the end of the season to better review his options and make a decision.
If I’m interpreting this right, that line about failing in the Netherlands suggests he does want to step up to a bigger project at some point, so the question is, will he look to do that this summer?
