Fabrizio Romano reveals Chelsea are not in talks for Tottenham attacking target

Rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Brennan Johnson is not currently the subject of firm interest from Chelsea, according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Welsh international is reported to have been a long-term target for Tottenham having been admired not only by the club’s former managing director of football, Fabio Paratici, but also by chief scout Leonardo Gabbanini (Football.London).

Tottenham have yet to bring in another attacking option following the departure of Harry Kane in a £100million deal to Bayern Munich with Ange Postecoglou having started Richarlison as his central striking option in both of the opening Premier League fixtures of the new campaign.

Thre Brazilian is yet to find the back of the net and found himself substituted by Ange Postecoglou during the second half of Saturday’s 2-0 win against Manchester United with club captain Heung-min Son moving from the left to play down the middle.

Chelsea are not set to bid for Brennan Johnson

Romano has taken to Twitter/X to confirm that while Chelsea admire the Nottingham Forest forward, they are instead focusing their attention on other transfer targets.

He wrote: Chelsea appreciate Brennan Johnson as talented player but didn’t submit any bid — not negotiating to sign Brennan, as of today.

“Club looking at different options in that position as things stand.

“Forest have earlier in the transfer window rejected a £35milion approach from Brentford, however, they would consider an offer in the region of £50million (Daily Mail).”

Tottenham need another attacking option and it remains to be seen whether the club will look to push forward with a deal for Brennan Johnson, who has the ability to play across the front three or instead focus on an out-and-out forward such as Gent’s Gift Orban, who has been heavily linked with a move to N17.
