A senior Tottenham star may be on the verge of sealing a move to a Champions League club, who are nearing an agreement with the Lilywhites as well as the player.

Several senior Spurs stars have been backed to exit N17 before the new campaign gets underway as the North Londoners continue rebuilding their squad.

That now appears even more likely after Roberto De Zerbi made it clear he will not try to convince any player to stay at Tottenham if they are not fully sold on being part of the project.

It has been widely reported over the last few days that one senior Spurs man is edging closer to returning to Serie A, and a deal now appears increasingly close.

Inter Milan now only €500k away from reaching agreement with Tottenham’s Cristian Romero

Some sources have said that Cristian Romero’s wage demands may be a roadblock for his proposed move to Inter Milan, but it appears that may no longer be an issue.

This is according to Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), who say that not only are Inter looking to close a deal with Tottenham Hotspur worth €40m (£34m), but they are also not far away from agreeing personal terms with the Argentine.

The update claims that the two parties are ‘haggling’ over just €500,000 (£428k) per year after the Italian club offered the centre-back a €6.4m (£5.5m) per year contract.

However, this gap is not considered a problem for the Serie A side, who are confident a deal can be done, and will face no issues in agreeing the agent commissions required for the transfer.

Inter could face late competition for Romero

Corriere dello Sport also backs up what other websites are saying regarding the Tottenham captain, stating that there could be late competition for the centre-back.

It is suggested that Atletico Madrid could reignite their interest in Romero, while also naming Arsenal as a potential contender for the 28-year-old.

They are not the first to report this, with other outlets also claiming last week that a shock move across North London is a possibility for the Tottenham star.

However, Corriere adds the Serie A champions believe that a deal for Romero is achievable at this point.
