Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has named his side which will take to the field in this afternoon’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
Postecoglou confirmed during yesterday’s pre-match press conference at the club’s Hotspur Way training ground that Richarlison would miss his second match in a row due to a minor knee issue.
He told Football.London when asked about the Brazilian: “Yeah, he’ll miss this week. He is close but with the weekend off next week, we feel and with the last two rounds stacked with games for us, we feel having him ready for that is more important, but he’s progressing quite well.”
Newcastle‘s Premier League fixtures have produced 117 goals this season, the most of any side in the competition, with 65 scored and 52 conceded.
Their run of scoring in 16 consecutive Premier League home matches is their longest since an 18-game streak from September 2002 to August 2003.
The incentive for Tottenham is simple, win and maintain their place in fourth with Aston Villa who are also battling for the final guaranteed Champions League spot in action at Arsenal on Sunday.
