‘Don’t wait’ – Ramon Vega urges Spurs to offer player a new contract now

Former Tottenham defender Ramon Vega has urged the club to offer Hugo Lloris a new contract immediately, insisting that it is a ‘privilege’ to have such a good goalkeeper at Spurs.

Lloris won his second major international honour on Sunday as he led France to the Nations League title, on the back of their World Cup triumph in 2018.

The goalkeeper put in another solid performance between the sticks as he helped Les Blues overcome Spain 2-1 in the final.

The 34-year-old was certainly instrumental to France’s win, with his semi-final performance, in particular, earning a lot of plaudits.

Lloris is now into the final year of his contract at Tottenham and reports have indicated that it is only a matter of time before he is offered a new deal by the North London club.

Vega has taken to social media to insist that Spurs should not think twice about offering their long-serving captain a new contract.

I suspect talks have already begun behind the scenes between Lloris’ entourage and Spurs over a new deal. The likely reason the Frenchman was not offered a new contract over the summer was due to the fact that Paratici and Nuno had just arrived at the club and might have wanted to take a closer look at the goalkeeper before making a decision.
