‘Easy decisions’ – Ange Postecoglou on potential selection headache for Aston Villa

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has insisted that the form of some of his players is a welcome problem, rather than being a hindrance ahead of this weekend’s match at Aston Villa.

Brennan Johnson came off the bench to catch the eye in Tottenham’s 3-1 win over Crystal Palace last weekend with the Welsh international providing two assists to help turn the tide of the fixture.

Postecoglou must now decide whether Johnson’s impact warrants a start or if he should remain among the substitutes.

Tottenham head to Villa Park on Sunday in what could prove to be pivotal in deciding who finishes in the top four of the Premier League this season.

Aston Villa have won their last three top flight matches and four of their last five ahead of the crunch clash at home where they have been particularly strong.

Unai Emery’s side have won 10 of their 13 home matches in the league this season, with only the three clubs above them having picked up more points at home.

Spurs’ form away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been decent, having lost fewer matches on the road in Premier League with just two defeats away from home all season.

Tottenham and Aston Villa are battling for fourth place

Postecoglou told Football.London when asked about Brennan Johnson and whether he is giving him a difficult decision over his team selection:  “I don’t know about difficult decisions. They’re easy decisions. The good thing about Brennan is he’s contributing.

“Overall this year we’ve seen growth in him playing in a way that is different for him. They’re all there in front of me with the opportunity to start or not start.”
