Tottenham Hotspur full-back Djed Spence is now attracting interest from a Premier League side keen on landing a full-back this summer transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur have been actively working on improving their defensive ranks ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, following a dismal finish last term.

Thus far, Spurs have signed several defenders, with Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi joining on free transfers, while Tottenham have reached a £52m agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign Jan Paul van Hecke permanently.

That has significantly bolstered the defensive ranks, giving Spurs added depth at both centre-back and full-back.

Tottenham defender Djed Spence emerges as Everton target

However, it now seems a Premier League side is looking to poach one of Tottenham’s squad players.

According to The Times, Everton are understood to be looking to strengthen at full-back this summer, with Tottenham defender Djed Spence among the players under consideration as they continue to assess their options.

The Toffees have been forced to use centre-back Jake O’Brien out wide despite the presence of Seamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson, neither of whom David Moyes entirely trusts.

As a result, strengthening at full-back remains a priority, although Spence is not the only name under consideration.

Ivory Coast full-back Guela Doue, along with Raoul Bellanova and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, are also on Everton’s radar as well. However, it is said that Guela Doue could be too expensive, which could result in the Toffees turning to Spence.

Tottenham almost sold Djed Spence for just £8.5m when he went on loan to Genoa in 2024, now he is playing at the World Cup finals with England.

Spurs value Djed Spence’s versatility

Spurs will surely not want to lose a player like Spence, who offers so much to the squad and its balance.

The full-back is highly valuable due to his ability to operate on both flanks, providing useful tactical flexibility when required.

While not first choice, with Destiny Udogie preferred on the left and Pedro Porro the first-choice option on the right, Spence could prove vital in the event of injuries. That importance is heightened by Udogie’s fitness issues over recent seasons.
