Ben Davies has reflected on the feeling inside the Tottenham camp as he prepares for his 13th season as a Spurs player.
The last few months of last season were agonising for everyone associated with Tottenham Hotspur, as the club were fighting to avoid relegation.
However, there is a huge feeling of positivity around the club heading into the new campaign, due to the passion that Roberto De Zerbi has brought with him and the club’s ambitious summer recruitment.
The Tottenham boss has set his aim very high ahead of his first full season in charge, and one senior Spurs man has shed light on what the Italian is building at the club.

Ben Davies admits ‘relentless’ Roberto De Zerbi has bought a family feel to Tottenham
Having been at the club for 12 years and seen many different managers come and go, Davies is perhaps one of the best placed to judge the mood around the camp and the work that is being done by De Zerbi.
The Welshman has admitted that the 46-year-old is relentless and demanding in every training session, and that the Italian is also building a family feel to the group, which was needed after the club’s struggles last season.
When asked about De Zerbi’s work so far, Davies told Tottenham’s official website: “He’s relentless in his pursuit for high-quality football. I think every single day on the training pitch he’s demanding, but the way he wants to play, you need to work at it, because you know when it comes off, it’s beautiful to watch. You sense he’s building a real family feel to the group.
“I think that’s important, having gone through what we did last season especially, where it was tough and you saw players dig in, fans dig in, everybody around the club really felt how difficult it was to be in that situation and what we needed to do to get out of it.
“Sometimes when you’re in those tough moments together it brings you a lot closer, and I think fans, staff, coaches, players all feel bonded by those hard moments. It makes you collectively stronger, individually stronger.”
Davies admits there is excitement among Spurs squad
There has been a huge turnover in the club’s squad this summer, perhaps greater than any summer that Davies has experienced at the club so far.
The experienced defender admitted that the new faces who have come through the door have brought energy and excitement to the club.
When asked specifically about the club’s defensive additions, Davies responded: “We feel excited, especially with the signings we’ve brought in, and we’ve all got a clear goal, what’s expected from us this year. It’s important that we play well with the ball, that can help us defensively the more we have it, the less we’ll have to defend.”
