Tottenham Hotspur fans will be very excited about Roberto De Zerbi’s latest comments regarding the kind of football we can expect from his side during the upcoming campaign.
The Italian had to firefight with the squad he inherited in the final seven games of last season and successfully managed to keep them in the Premier League.
This summer, De Zerbi has had the opportunity to mould the squad in the manner he wants, with the club backing him with big signings in the transfer window.
We have already seen glimpses of a much more attacking, possession-based approach from the Lilywhites in pre-season, and the Italian has now revealed what we can expect from his team when the campaign gets underway.

Roberto De Zerbi wants Tottenham to have a ‘special’ style of play
De Zerbi has already promised that we will see a very different Spurs side this season to the one we saw in the final seven games of last campaign.
The Tottenham boss has now clarified further, insisting that he wants the side to have ‘something special’ in their style of play and an identity that is clearly recognisable each time they set foot on the pitch.
When asked what we can expect from his Spurs side in 2026-27, the 46-year-old told Men in Blazers: “I would like to create something special in the style of play, for sure. But, first of all, first the style of play, I want to build a real soul of the team.
“I would like, when we go to play in the Premier League, during the game, at home, away, the people have to recognise the team inside of the pitch as an organisation, as a style of play, for sure, but also to recognise the soul, the passion, the value of the player.”
De Zerbi wants Spurs players to be proud of the shirt
The former Brighton boss has now made it clear that first and foremost, he wants to see each player show pride and passion for the shirt.
De Zerbi suggested that quality alone is not enough and that Spurs need to have something extra if they want to compete with the best teams in the division.
The Tottenham boss continued: “I love generous players. I love the players who play with pride to wear this shirt and pride to stay in Tottenham. Because the qualities of the players are not enough. You don’t put if you don’t put something more, something of yourself, something you feel inside of you, is very tough now competing with the top teams in the world, in Premier League as well.”
