Fabrizio Romano provides update on when Porro deal could be completed by

Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to provide an update on Tottenham Hotspur’s protracted pursuit of Pedro Porro with the transfer window edging closer to slamming shut.

Tottenham are reported to have been holding talks in Lisbon since Wednesday and have yet to strike a deal with Sporting Lisbon to secure the services of the Spanish international.

Romano has now revealed that despite the timeframe of the talks, it is only a matter of time before the former Manchester City defender secures his return to the Premier League under Antonio Conte.

Tottenham officials and their Sporting counterparts are today meeting via intermediaries to wrap up the deal and it is expected to be concluded before the end of the weekend.

Portuguese journalist Bruno Andrade claimed yesterday that one of the conditions included in the proposed deal is that the player is allowed to play in Sporting’s League Cup final against FC Porto tomorrow evening.

If Sporting are holding out for Porro to play in the cup final before sanctioning the sale, it correlates with Romano’s prediction of the deal being completed before the end of the weekend.

Tottenham will certainly be glad to get this deal over the line considering the hours which have been invested in discussions – it begs to differ why the north Londoners did not look to secure his signature at the start of the window.
