Tottenham Hotspur could be set to cash in on Lucas Bergvall this summer, with Fabrizio Romano revealing the valuation Spurs have placed on the midfielder.

After consecutive 17th-place finishes in the last two seasons, Tottenham Hotspur are now working to strengthen their squad.

So far, Spurs have secured three new additions this summer, although all have been defensive reinforcements, with Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson joining.

With two of those signings arriving on free transfers, Spurs are now preparing to splash the cash as they turn their attention to bolstering their midfield options.

Fabrizio Romano reveals Tottenham’s asking price for Lucas Bergvall

Sandro Tonali is one of Tottenham’s midfield targets, with Spurs tabling an £80 million bid for the Newcastle man that was swiftly rejected.

The pursuit of further midfield reinforcements, including West Ham’s Matues Fernandes, has led to Lucas Bergvall requesting a transfer away from Spurs.

The Sweden international is seeking more game time in his preferred number eight role, and with competition set to be fierce this season, he is now eyeing a move away.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Spurs could lose Bergvall this summer, but stressed that the club will not allow him to leave cheaply.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano explained: “Remember, he was 50/50 Tottenham, Barcelona, Barcelona, Tottenham, then Tottenham closed the deal.

“It was a long time ago, but Lucas Bergvall is still convinced that Tottenham was the right step, but he is feeling that with Tottenham going for Sandro Tonali – Tottenham wanted to add more players in midfield – he is not going to find the space he needs in order to develop and to grow under Roberto De Zerbi, and this is why Bergvall wants to go, probably £45-50m could get the deal done.”

European clubs circle Bergvall after transfer request

Spurs Web has reported on the growing interest in Bergvall since his transfer request, with several clubs across Europe keen to secure his services.

Chelsea and Aston Villa could revisit their interest after enquiring about him during the winter window.

Arsenal have also been credited with interest in Bergvall, while Bayern Munich are said to be monitoring the Swede’s situation closely.

Nottingham Forest could also turn their attention to Bergvall, but only if they lose Elliot Andersen to Manchester City this summer.

Each of these clubs has the financial muscle to meet the valuation Romano has quoted, leaving Spurs with a decision to make on whether to cash in or fight to keep hold of their talented youngster.

Of course, if he were to be sold for 45-50m, Spurs will make a significant profit after signing him for £8.5m back in 2024.
