Tottenham appoint former Arsenal chief Vinai Venkatesham as new CEO

Spurs have made a huge announcement, confirming the appointment of a new chief executive officer ahead of the summer. Interestingly, the Tottenham position has been handed to Vinai Venkatesham who made a name for himself at North London rivals, Arsenal.

There have been a few rumours over the last few weeks about some big potential changes at Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the summer.

Several sources have claimed that Daniel Levy is trying to persuade Fabio Paratici to return to Spurs in an official role, while Ange Postecoglou is under pressure of losing his Tottenham job.

Levy has indeed made a big new appointment at the top, but it is not Paratici, but rather a former Arsenal director, who spent four years as the chief executive at the Emirates Stadium.

Tottenham appoint Vinai Venkatesham as CEO

Spurs have now confirmed that Vinai Venkatesham will be joining the club’s board as CEO at the end of this season. The 43-year-old held the same position at Arsenal from 2010 to 2024, eventually deciding to move on from the club last year.

Apart from his experience with the Gunners, Venkatesham has also served as a member of the board and executive committee of the European Club Association (ECA) and is currently a non-executive director of the British Olympic Association.

According to The Athletic, Venkatesham will take responsibility for all operational matters on and off the field at Tottenham.

The report explained that the former Arsenal director rejected several other offers in favour of taking over at Spurs, having enjoyed a strong relationship with Daniel Levy for many years.

Daniel Levy and Venkatesham react to the appointment

The Tottenham chairman is delighted to welcome a man of Venkatesham’s experience to the club, admitting that he is excited to work with the newcomer.

Levy told the club’s official website: “The club has experienced significant growth in recent years, making it crucial to expand our executive management.

“I have known Vinai for many years, having worked together in the Premier League and the ECA. I am personally delighted that he has agreed to join our Board as we build for success.”

Venkatesham said ahead of his arrival at Spurs: “I’m excited to be joining Tottenham Hotspur this summer. After taking some time to recharge and evaluate my options, I believe this is an exceptional opportunity to work with Daniel, the board and all of the staff, to take the club forward.”
