Mauricio Pochettino makes Daniel Levy revelation amid Tottenham return claims

Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that he remains in contact with chairman Daniel Levy, sparking further speculation about a possible return.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League campaign is all but over, with the club sitting 14th in the table and a massive 15 points adrift of the top four.

Their latest defeat at Craven Cottage marked their 15th loss of the season after just 29 matches – a dire situation for a club of their stature.

Ange Postecoglou is under pressure to turn things around, and with Spurs still in the Europa League, the Australian’s best shot at redemption lies in their upcoming quarter-final clash against Eintracht Frankfurt.

A deep run in Europe could ease some of the criticism, but his long-term future remains in question.

Despite reports suggesting Tottenham have already drawn up a shortlist of potential replacements, the club appears in no rush to make a decision.

However, the pressure is only intensifying, especially after Mauricio Pochettino admitted earlier this week that he would love to return to Tottenham in the future.

Mauricio Pochettino reveals continued relationship with Daniel Levy

Speaking to Sky Sports in a more recent interview, the Argentine revealed that he and Daniel Levy still maintain a strong relationship and continue to talk.

His comments will no doubt fuel further speculation about whether a return to North London could be on the cards.

Shortly before accepting the USA job, Pochettino admitted to having a conversation with Levy, who offered him advice on his next move.

He said: “It’s always about the timing. I was talking with my former president Daniel Levy [Tottenham chairman] and he says always football is about timings and he always told me, ‘Mauricio, always it’s timing’.”

“It’s true because he has experience in football and it’s a privilege to be head coach of the England national team, but the timings sometimes are not in the same, in the moment that you can be available like this and this option disappears.”

When is the timing right for a Tottenham return?

With Postecoglou’s future hanging by a thread, a managerial change seems more likely than ever. If the Australian fails to deliver silverware this season, particularly with a near full-strength squad at his disposal, Spurs could be preparing for yet another summer of upheaval.

That said, if Tottenham are eyeing a Pochettino return, the timing still isn’t ideal. The Argentine is now focused on leading the USA to the World Cup in 2026, meaning Spurs would have to wait at least one more year if they wanted him back in charge.
